The UK has less water fall available per person than any other EU country, with the exception of Belgium and Cyprus. London has less water available per capita than Istanbul or the Sudan.
The demand for water is forecast to increase over the next 20 years, so water saving will become more of an issue not just from scarcity of supply but also from the energy it costs to purify and supply potable water to users who only drink around 5% of the end product.
There are a number of practical steps that can be taken to ensure that the products specified for bathrooms and washrooms are efficient and cut down on unnecessary waste. These are designed to use water efficiently but don't have to be to the detriment of the enjoyment of bathing or showering.
These steps will help users reduce their water usage and satisfy the growing number of largely government lead schemes that demand water efficiency in new and refurbished buildings.
