IDEAL STANDARD RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS HEALTH AND SAFETY AWARD IN RECOGNITION OF 13 YEARS OF ACHIEVEMENT

Ideal Standard, the leading manufacturer of innovative bathrooms, is the winner of a prestigious award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

After winning 13 consecutive Gold awards at the society’s annual Health and Safety Awards, the company is due to be presented with the President’s award in recognition of this achievement during a ceremony at Birmingham’s Metropole on 12th July.

Through the RoSPA Awards scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. The awards are now in its 61st year.

Jonathan Edge, HR Director at Ideal Standard, said: “This is a terrific accomplishment for us as an organisation and it’s an honour to receive the President’s award from as highly a respected body as RoSPA. We place health and safety at the heart of all our products, particularly when it comes to items such as brassware which is used alongside hot water. What’s more we also adhere to stringent regulations within our factories to ensure our teams are operating safely throughout the manufacturing process.

“Of course, despite this recognition we won’t be resting on our laurels. The business will continue to drive innovation and practice with health and safety at the forefront of all it does, so we hope to continue to impress the society for years to come.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety, and held in high regard around the world, as winning one demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record. Achieving the standard required is no mean feat.

“This is a special year in the history of RoSPA, and we congratulate all of our winners in this, our centenary year.”

The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Gold medals, president’s awards and orders of distinction are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the gold level over consecutive years. Competitive awards go to the best entries in 24 industry sectors including construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, engineering, manufacturing and education.

Headline sponsor of the RoSPA Awards 2017 is NEBOSH – the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health – for the 12th consecutive year.
