Ideal Standard, a leading provider of innovative and design-driven bathroom solutions, is to return to Ecobuild, the world's leading event for sustainable design, construction, energy and the built environment – starting Tuesday 4th March at London’s ExCeL Exhibition Centre.
Located on Stand S116, Ideal Standard will present a range of products highlighting the company’s commitment to water efficiency and sustainable design – and showcasing its new ‘grey-water’ recycling solution in partnership with Reaqua Systems
The Ideal Standard Reaqua Systems partnership will bring a unique new solution to the residential bathroom market for the first time. The new technology will effectively enable developers to completely discount toilet water consumption – and reduce total water consumption of a home by up to 30%, saving the average family household up to 100,000 litres of water per year.
It also enables developers a greater freedom to specify a luxurious bathroom, allowing the provision of a bigger bath or bigger shower that uses more water than normal, but through grey-water recycling still reaches low water consumption targets.
The innovative system uses waste-water from baths and showers, recycling it for toilet flushing. The technology has excellent sustainable credentials, enabling developers to achieve Level 5 and 6 Code for Sustainable Homes.
Uniquely, it does not require users to make any lifestyle or behaviour changes – so even though water consumption is reduced; ‘bathing comfort’ is always maintained whilst adequate water is available to clear drains through flushing. This is a huge step forward with many water consumption reduction solutions often a cause for complaint, with low-flush toilets having a tendency to cause blocked drains, for example; and flow restricted low-flow showers often providing disappointing shower performance.
A full working demonstration of how this system works in a residential context will be on display as one of the highlights of the Ideal Standard Ecobuild stand.
Ideal Standard will also be presenting Tempo, a new affordable range of ceramics and bathing products designed by Robin Levien, which aims to be functional and affordable, but also beautiful. The range combines soft rounded curves with flat topped rims to create the perfect mood for the modern bathroom. Tempo is a water saving suite in itself, but is also compatible with the Ideal Standard Reaqua Systems grey-water’ recycling solution. Competitively priced, it is targeted at the budget end of the new build residential market.
Completing the stand will be displays from Ideal Standard’s Kubo range; along with a selection of kitchen taps from its eco-friendly Concept Blue range, demonstrating that Ideal Standard can provide a complete solution for water in the home.
Tony Rheinberg, Marketing Manager and Water Saving Expert at Ideal Standard, comments: “Ideal Standard is at the forefront of water efficient technology, providing innovative and sustainable total bathroom solutions. Through our partnership with Reaqua Systems, we are excited to showcase a new and unique grey-water recycling solution at Ecobuild. Greywater recycling provides an attractive solution to saving water within a home and we believe it could be a game-changer for the residential market because it allows housebuilders to deliver high-spec and high quality bathrooms, yet consume less water, therefore having the ability to meet sustainable ratings.
“We are committed to making a difference to water wastage and as our latest innovation demonstrates, continue to respond to demand and the feedback we receive at forums such as Ecobuild, which is always an important opportunity to engage with both new and existing customers.”
Ideal Standard has over 700 products on the European Water Label scheme, designed to help consumers identify water efficient products and offering consumers a variety of choice and price ranges.
