2014 bathroom trends

As 2014 fast approaches, Ideal Standard International designer Robin Levien gives his bathroom predictions for next year.

The bathroom has become a key element of our homes; a place for so much more than our daily routine. On any one day the bathroom may have to be an oasis of relaxation, a room for reinvigoration, a space for transformation and even somewhere to play.

The following trends mark the evolution in bathroom design to meet the challenges and demands of modern day living.

Slimline Fittings

With the average UK bathroom no bigger than a king sized bed, the bathroom industry is seeing a major trend towards physical lightness of furnishings with slimline fixtures and fittings helping to maximise the amount of space left for us in the bathroom.

In the past 50 years, house sizes have shrunk considerably meaning that bathrooms have also had to adapt. However, this doesn’t mean we have to compromise on our ideal bathroom – it is still possible to have a bathroom which combines form with functional well designed products. This is something which will become more prominent in 2014.

The Concept Space range of ceramics, baths and storage solutions is designed to transform any space – however small or awkward – into a beautiful use of space

When it comes to storage, the range is all about making the best use of available space, whether it’s behind or above the WC, below the basin or anywhere else in the bathroom. Wall hung and modular units help create a spacious, sophisticated and contemporary look.

Units are available in up to six finishes and are designed with minimal projection to make bathrooms look and feel spacious.

The increased use of these slimline furnishings also has added benefits for the environment, reducing carbon footprint, without comprising on style.
